MHI – Q: Can I “go paperless” with Medicare?

Posted by MedEd at MHI
A: You can help save trees by going paperless with some Medicare publications. Consider signing up for an electronic version of the Medicare & You handbook. The eHandbook version is searchable and updated throughout the year. Follow the “Go paperless: get Medicare & You electronically” link on the main page of www.medicare.gov.

You can also arrange to receive your Medicare Summary Notices (MSNs) electronically. This environmentally-friendly action allows you to monitor your claims on a monthly basis rather than waiting every three months for a paper summary. Sign up for a secure MyMedicare.gov account and you’ll receive an email whenever an eMSN is available for review.

Some Medicare publications are available in eBooks format. Follow the “Forms, Help & Resources” tab from the main page of www.medicare.gov to see which publications are available to be downloaded to your eReader. Check out Medicare’s coverage of diabetes supplies, hospice benefits and ambulance rides when it’s convenient for you.

Go ahead – do your part for saving the environment while getting the information you need when you need it.
