A: There are some medications not covered by Part D plans. 

Medicines covered by Part A or Part B won’t be covered by Part D. Any medications you get while in the hospital as an inpatient or in a skilled care facility are covered by Part A. Part B medicines that are administered through a piece of durable medical equipment such as nebulizers or insulin pumps.

Other categories of medications not covered include the following:

Vitamins and supplements
OTC (over-the-counter) medications
Drugs for cosmetic purposes or hair growth
Fertility drugs
Drugs for erectile dysfunction
